The Federal Trade Commission, which is the nation’s consumer protection agency, has set up Annual Credit Report.com as the only authorized online source for reporting your credit FREE to you. This isunder federal law so why not get a FREE report each year to see what’s going on with your credit.
The credit report website of the government says, ” You can get a free report from each of the three national credit reporting companies every 12 months. Some other sites claim to offer “free” credit reports, but may charge you for another product if you accept a “free” report.”
The recent amendment to the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires all of the national consumer departments for credit such as Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.
BEWARE- There are many agencies that offer “free” credit reports but there is only ONE that is authorized by the FTC to give you the FREE one under the law and that is Annual Credit Report.com so be careful. Some offer FREE credit reports that come with additional fees, etc.
