Often called “the most winning coach in football history” said this morning at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast that up and coming adults but “be that person” for the younger generation. He charged not only players but adults to step up to the plate and be a mentor for those who may need it. Bowden said that through his career he often saw young guys who had no father figure and he felt it his obligation to fill that role if he could and he encouraged the crowd of about 1,100 at the FCA event in Jacksonville to accept that role of leadership if need be.
Bowden was in town for the Gator Bowl game of which is believed to be his last game as a coach.
