From where does our obedience to God come? (”IF” we are obedient?)

Sometimes we think that it is by our own will and power that we are obedient to the Holy Spirit but no, it is ” not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Zachariah 4:06.

The way that it works is that we have a spirit, soul and body. When we call upon the name of the Lord for salvation- (”Oh Lord Jesus, please save my soul”.) God saves us and gives us eternal life AND he gives us his Holy Spirit inside our body. Then, by the reading of God’s Word (the Bible) we are given insight into God’s will for our lives. Things work GREAT because we are working the plan of reading daily and following through by His Holy Spirit.

Many people trust Him but don’t read the Bible and then wonder why His will is not being done in their lives. Its sort of like the workings of a car…It needs constant maintenance. It works without it but it begins to fall a part without every day care. In other words, we can move along as children of God with His spirit inside of us and He still cares for us and takes care of us- but if we would just do the maintenance of reading His Word, things would work more smoothly because we would be aware of what to do and not to do.

As God’s Spirit indwells us as we read and trust. When things occur in the natural world, we have God’s Spirit to rely on in our minds from reading the Bible which IS the very voice of God.Those Words of the Bible would come into our minds and we would make better choices.

What we want is for God to fill our soul. Our soul is like our personality. We want our person to be filled with all that is good and pure, exciting and worthwhile. As this happens (from reading God’s Word and trusting Him) we act and behave like God as he fills every area of our lives. “If ye then, being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?” Luke 11:13.

As the Spirit now indwells the soul and fills it, the body comes now and follows along in control. God controls what the body does by His Holy(clean and pure) Spirit.

But, it all begins with “Father in Heaven, come into my heart and save my soul”. I ask Jesus into my heart.”

I was 7 when I trusted Christ. I know full well what happens when we read the Bible and when we don’t for I know the Spirit of God indwelled me. Through the years as I have trusted God and read His Word, my soul has been filled and I have been obedient but in those times that I did “my will” and did not read HIS Word, I fell away and did what was wrong in the sight of the Lord.

Obedience is a matter of reading God’s Word (His Bible) and letting our souls get filled and then doing what those words say through God’s spirit.

There is no question that God’s Word (the Bible) must be read daily else we fall in disrepair.
