As many of you know, I’m a wannabe photographer and photograph big events when they occur. This Democratic Convention would be one of the biggest in our country because of Obama being the first Black nominee to a high-ranking position and Hillary Clinton being the first woman nominated (and then handing it to Obama by acclamation). So, I went to have the historic photos.
But, after four days of listening to democratic rhetoric, I will be so glad to get home and back to my republican roots. ( I must say that Obama was eloquent and I hope spoke from heart. He certainly can speak, that’s for sure but I just can’t vote for big government, abortion rights, etc, etc.) So…with that said–In my view it’s McCain and the “soccer mom”.
The Denver weather was nice. The people were warm and friendly and I got to see the prairie so that I could explain it to students whom I teach. (Yearly, I read Across The Wide and Lonesome Prairie” by Kristiana Gregrory)
During the day it was hot as the blue blazes. At night it was cool and breezy.
Although I never revealed the fact that I was a republican in a democratic world, I felt out of place. The people were nice to me where I sat in the arena those first days and then in the huge “Mile High” stadium.
I stood in line with a woman from Colorado who talked non-stop! She was Black and was so proud and happy to have a Black candidate. For that I was so happy for her. Otherwise, all of the praise she was lavishing on the Democratic party was ridiculous(but I did not say anything). It wasn’t my party. It was hers so I just stood there and tried to listen. Whew! She did talk non-stop!
So, not only did I listen to four days of talk from Democrats in the Arena and stadium, I had to stand in a line for at least four hours ( well, maybe two) and listen to a lady with the same mentality. Humph!
