Retiring Time Must Be Fun

Well, I’m just too young to retire but wouldn’t it be fun? Being a teacher, I get a feel for what retirement must be like. In the summer I wake up when I want, go where I feel like going and spend money as I please(they don’t take out deductions in the summer so there is more money).

How fun being retired(in the summer).

Three of my friends retired this past year. I was so happy for them and it made me to look forward to the time when I too will walk that road. To retire in style there are some things that I realize I must do.

1. Be Debt Free- I cannot enjoy retirement if I’m steeped in debt so I know that I have to be careful now as I spend so as not to get in debt and pay big payments each month.

2. Have a Savings Account- It is obvious that I will want to feel secure if something happens. My car may need new tires, my roof may need repair or I may need to take care of some unexpected events. A savings will be important.

3. Continue to Add To My Roth Account- Each month, I have my Roth account added to. While I wish I had done a better job as a young teacher, I am happy that some years ago I did create this savings acccount. I opened two accounts so that all of my money would not be in one account. If I continue to add to it, by the time I retire I’ll have a nice “nest egg”.

4. Get rid of Stuff- It seems to me that the closer I get to retirement that I should rid my home of junk, mess, stuuf and things that I don’t need or want. It seems that I should be as lean as possible so I don’t have to “take care of things” that I don’t want or need.

As I prepare for retirement, I’ll also continue to read stuff to help me get ready.
